Right B – its a loaded discussion and larger than the crappy song and video you’ve included in this post… which is not simply about questioning any stereotype of caucasian males seeing East Asian women as exotic and thus desirable.

That being said, the song’s lyrics are well – trite, misogynistic, juvenile and most certainly orientalist.

If anyone went to the East London Mela last agust you will have seen that most of the people there were teenagers.

What I saw there was that the Pakistanis/Bangladeshis (flag waving etc) throwing bottles at singers – Ironically only at the Indian ones. Mumzy didn’t get a bottle thrown at him. Go figure.

It’s sad because music is supposed to bring everyone together, but the younger generation see it as a India vs Pakistan etc thing. Funny thing is, these kids weren’t even born in 1947.
